MEET THE TEAM

MICHAEL MUTHAMAH
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
I believe every Christian is gifted and should not only leverage their gifts for the furtherance of God’s kingdom (1 Peter 4:10) but also intentionally seek to be equipped for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12).

It is clear that God has opened this avenue for us to employ our efforts, gifts, talents and resources to not only make an impact on the community, not only nurture talent but most importantly teach these children and their families about Jesus and the hope that is found in him.

DANIEL OMONDI
SPORTS DIRECTOR
I grew up in the slums and was exposed to many vices that are prevalent in this area. I was on the wrong and fatal path hanging out with the wrong crowd, always getting into trouble.

It was by God’s grace a basketball coach noticed my height and introduced me to the game of basketball. I was introduced to a solid basketball program where I was taught hard work, discipline, teamwork and most importantly the Christian faith.

This was many years ago.

I believe the Lord orchestrated those events and many more to prepare me for where he has placed me to serve - CBA.

I serve as the sports director, coaching, mentoring and nurturing these young kids.
There is a huge need for Gospel ministry in the slums, sports are an easy way to connect with these kids.

My prayer is that the Lord blesses our meager efforts with fruit all for His glory.

Sharon Mabiala
communications DIRECTOR
It is my conviction that every young person, as a bearer of God's image, is worthy of a secure and nurturing community, a safe harbor where they can be cultivated in wisdom and character, and flourish as the unique man or woman God created them to be.

Through Crossover Basketball Ambassadors, I’ve seen how basketball can do so much more than just bring people together. It can heal, build confidence, and open up new possibilities for the future.

I truly believe God has called us to use this game to reach young people, to walk alongside them, to cheer them on, and to remind them of the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. Even when the work gets hard, I hold on to this beautiful reminder:
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Galatians 6:9

Fredrick imbayi
CHAPLaIN
I have been in ministry for over 13 years, including serving as a pastor for 5 years. I am married to Irene, and we have been blessed with two wonderful children, Leo and Liam.
My heart beats for guiding young minds towards a deeper understanding of the Bible. I'm passionate about fostering leadership development and nurturing the spiritual growth of our youth.
I am excited about bridging the gap between sports and faith for our young people. My goal is to help them connect their love for basketball with their spiritual beliefs, creating a space where faith and sports coexist harmoniously.
This program presents an incredible ministry opportunity for me, enabling me to merge my passion for faith with my love for mentoring young individuals

diana muthoni
digital brand strategist
I joined CBA in 2023 as a volunteer Digital Brand Strategist, and it has been a deeply fulfilling and rewarding journey ever since.
As a creative, it’s important to collaborate with organizations whose values resonate with your own. CBA aligns not only with my personal values but also with my Christian faith, making the work both meaningful and purpose-driven.
I have had the opportunity to contribute to shaping the organization’s key messaging and visual identity. I support the development of an impactful brand presence amplifying CBA’s mission.
I believe in CBA’s work of reaching youth in Nairobi’s slums, using sports to share the Gospel and nurture discipleship. Discipleship through sports not only teaches physical discipline but also spiritual direction early in life, which is imperative.
Ultimately, it's this profound connection between faith, creativity, and community transformation that truly defines my experience with CBA.

Navade Derick
JUNIOR CHAPLAIN
I’m one of the senior players on this team, I volunteer with the young kids in this organisation and also share the word of God with them
I’ve been where these kids have been when growing up, I’ve experienced the type of challenges they face. I believe that this basketball programme is not just about sports but its main aim is to make a difference in their lives, spiritually, mentally and morally.

I can proudly say that I am a beneficiary of this programme, I’ve been coached, mentored and brought up right by our coaches. They have instilled values and helped me develop a godly worldview. They work tirelessly to ensure that it's not all about basketball, they believe that all is vanity without God and I also believe that.

I’ve experienced how this programme has impacted my life positively and given me a Biblical perspective when viewing society, sports and serving. This is the main reason I volunteer. I want this next generation to be brought up in the ways of our Lord Jesus, be morally upright and be the change in this community.

Felix Sego
COACH
I am 24 years old and volunteer because I believe it is my duty to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.

One of the primary reasons I chose to volunteer at CBA was my genuine enjoyment of working with the children who consistently show up at the basketball court, eager to enhance their skills.

In my role at CBA, I actively support our coach in training the young CBA team, fostering a safe environment where they can grow on their basketball journey.

My involvement with the program began early in 2023 when I joined the team and expressed a keen interest in the assigned roles. Being part of this initiative has not only allowed me to contribute to the community but has also been personally rewarding as I witness the positive impact on the young athletes' development.

As I continue my journey with CBA, my commitment remains steadfast in nurturing the potential of these young talents and creating a lasting legacy of positive change within the community. Through this volunteer experience, I've come to realize the profound impact that dedicated individuals can have when united by a shared goal of empowering the next generation.

ann njeri
junior coach
It is a profound blessing to steward the gifts of these young women, watching them develop not only their skills in basketball but also the virtues of godly discipline and a sense of purpose rooted in who they were created to be. Being part of their journey, helping train them, pushing them, encouraging them, that's where I find my greatest joy. Seeing them successful is what makes everything worth it.

CBA gave me that chance. It shaped me not just as a player, but as a person. I was supported, mentored and challenged. I found strength I didn’t know I had. And in that process, I discovered how deeply I wanted to do the same for others.

Every step of this journey has been directed by God. His presence is the reason I am here. He opened the doors and He continues to lead me. Everything I’ve become is because of Him.

To every young girl wondering if she belongs: you do. Whether you’ve held a basketball before or not, there’s a space for you. This is more than just a game. It’s a place to grow, to heal, to lead. I would love to see you step into it.

Shadrack Kiprop
ADMINISTRATOR
I am 24 years old. Growing up I wish I had a big brother who could guide me through the various obstacles in life.
God graciously blessed me with a number of big brothers in CBA, this is why I am burdened to volunteer. So that I can be a big brother to others.
CBA is a platform to exercise the gifts God has given me for the benefit of the younger generation and the community for the Gods glory and the furtherance of his kingdom.

Youth and children in the slums are particularly vulnerable, vices are so prevalent and desperation is a force that pushes them towards these vices.
Through CBA we share the hope that is in Christ and offer a much better option to live.

CBA is not just sports but a means to penetrate the hearts and minds of the children and youth who come with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My role at Crossover Basketball Ambassadors primarily involves administration although I also assist to train, instill discipline, and guiding them to navigate through life's obstacles.
I am passionate about creating an environment where they can flourish, both on and off the court.

Duncan Vuluku
FACILITY CUSTODIAN
I am 21 years old. I joined this program in 2023 with my friends as we were playing basketball together.

I cordially volunteered because of the love for basketball and the love for children. I personally believe that children are the future; therefore, for us to have a bright and better future, we have to guide them in our day-to-day challenges and the biblical way of life.

I'm pleased to say that this program is the best thing that has happened to me so far because I get to play and coach the young talent, which is pretty fun.

I help coach them and also lead Bible studies but my primary responsibility is taking care of the facility the Lord has blessed us with. Teaching the children to be good stewards and how to be responsible.

I believe Crossover Basketball Ambassadors is a family. I like the direction we are headed, raising grounded, responsible, God-fearing men and women.
